God’s Dispensing

Every day we depend upon electricity. We turn on lights, charge our iPods, boot up computers, and watch TV. All this is simply done at the flick of a switch. But have you ever considered what it takes for the electricity to get from the power station to your home? It has gone through a process – flowing from the power station through substations, pylons and transmission lines, until finally it is available at the flick of a switch.

God too went through a process to become available to man. God the Father, as the source of the divine electricity, is like a power station (Eph 1:19). He flowed Himself into humanity, becoming a God-man called Jesus (John 1:14). Jesus, with both the divine and human nature, lived a genuine human life with many earthly sufferings, died, and was buried. But the process did not stop there! Jesus resurrected from the dead and became a life-giving Spirit (1 Cor 15:45). As the Spirit, God is in a form available to man (John 20:22). The Spirit can be installed into your spirit (John 3:6) today as the heavenly electricity, just by saying, “O Lord Jesus, come into me!”

Once electricity has been installed into a building, everything is so simple. To receive the electricity from the power station all you need to do is flick the switch. When God enters our human spirit, a heavenly switch is installed to connect us to the heavenly supply (Phil 1:19). Every day we can flick the switch in our spirit to experience and enjoy God flowing into our being.

Simply flick the switch by calling on His name!
